Root Canal Therapy
You’ve probably heard the term “root canal,” but you might not really know what root canal therapy entails. If your tooth has become infected, root canal therapy can help us clear up the infection and even save your tooth from eventual extraction. Root canal therapy can also alleviate tooth pain associated with infection as well.
Sometimes decay opens up a hole in your tooth that leads all the way down to the chamber that runs from each tip of your tooth roots and through your tooth. Inside of this chamber lies a nerve, often referred to as the pulp, and this nerve can become infected one the decay has reached the root canal chamber. Root canal therapy involves reaching down into the chamber, removing the infected nerve, and filling the chamber and sealing the tooth.
Without root canal therapy, the infection will eventually kill your tooth and cause you to lose it. We want you to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. That’s why we provide root canal therapy at our Columbus, Georgia dental office. Have you been suffering with chronic tooth pain? You might need root canal therapy. Call Columbus Family Dentistry for a checkup and let us determine the best course of action for your dental care.
